Money doesn't grow on trees
by Nokomis

This morning, I had to take JR to the mechanic to pick up his car, which has been their for the last week with one thing after another needing to be done to it. The final bill came out to $1,300. We never flinched, and JR handed her our bank card, and she starts writing out the info on the slip, and then writes "credit" as she asks us if its credit or debit. We tell her to run it as debit, as thats normally cheaper for the businesses. She stops, and looks up at us. "You know what means, you need to have the full amount in your account?" she stated. We both nodded, and when she stepped away to run in threw shrugged at eachtoher.
JR and I by no means have an endless money supply. In fact, just the oppisit. I work constantly, and he has a full time job and goes to school. Funds are always a bit tight. We just plan well. We were able to buy the car, paid in full, a month prior with the money we had saved for the closing costs of our house that ended up not being needed when we negotiated our sellers to pay the costs. We also did our research on what was wrong on the car, and knew exactly how much the repairs would run us. We planned on in the expense.
The shocking part is that most people do not. The world in general is bad with money. JR and I do need to get a lot better with our money, but it did make me feel good that maybe we are at least in some ways we are on the right track!
