My Better Grocery Budget

by Nokomis Email

Alright, so one of my goals, as stated before was to work on that grocery budget of mine.  My reason for pushing this, is because it is something we are very much in control of.  Also, I want to get myself out of debt, minus the house, and possibly student loans.  I want to pay off what I owe on my car and my credit card.  Not much, really.  In fact its a goal I have been wokring towards and I only have about $7k left total....That also means, every little bit counts!

1) Average Your Grocery Spending From the Last 4-8 Weeks

This is one is a little hard for us, at the moment.  Before we moved, we lived in a house with more than just JR and I.  Everyone did "help" with food, but I suspect JR and I did more than our share. After that we lived with my parents and meals purchased were few and far between.  Prior to our move, we probably spent about $500 a month on food.  Now, I will say that I tend to eat rather healthy.  We also have te issue that JR is rather carniverous, where I am have been a Vegeterian for some time now, other than seafood.  Fish is pretty expensive, but I try to eat it a few times a week.

2) Be Realistic

I'm starting slow, really slow.  I'm starting at a goal of $400 a month.

3) Challenge Yourself to Slowly Lower Your Budget

This is my plan...to start slow, and see just how low I can go!
