69. Take Arwen to a Dressage Show

Okay....so there is actually a particular show in mind. I am hoping to be able to take her to the NER Dressage Rally.

I've had Arwen on the longe line a few times now, and have ridden her 3 times since the snow has been out of my arena. Well....She was doing pretty well for her, but today we defiantly battled it out for over an hour. That mare and I are just too much alike!! We both just want to be in charge!

Times are changing....

So I haven't posted here in a while, but that does not mean that my dreams have not been coming true. Slowly and surely things have been crossed off my list ;) I have noticed though, over the past year, that there are things that were relevant when I wrote the list, but no...not so much. Like waking up before 7am every morning....I took a job working 12hr nigh shifts in December. Now, the only time I see pre-7a, is when I have yet to go to bed. For this reason, I have decided that one thing on my list can be replaced for another....as long as there is still a relevant, accomplishment task for me to strive towards.

The only new goal I have though of yet ;)

69. Take Melody Pre-Lim -- Mel blew her knee last fall, and while sound to ride...my poor mare will not be sound to go Pre-lim.
NEW goal- Take Arwen to a Dressage Show.

Time for a Move

One of the big things on my list is that I really, REALLY needed to move out...and well, its finally going to happen. I signed today to rent the first floor of a large size house for 9 months, only until June, when I can re-evaluate. Its so surreal though! I can't believe it. They let me move some of my stuff in today, and it felt so strange. It will be good though! I so needed this!!

P.S. my audiobooks have been working out great, I am loving them!!

A few things...

I am cheating when it com to the books I want to read. I subscribed to JiggerBug and am listening to the audio book version in my car on he way to and from work. :) I am loving it, because I love to read and don't have much time to. :) With that I had gotten through the Devil Wears Prada and Harry Potter 1. I am starting on HP 2 :) yay!

I also just bought myself a portable hard drive! Next to organize on it! :)

Nursing world here I come

So it has been a while, I have been really bust, just finishing up school, and getting ready for my boards, as well as everything with the horses and pony club. So anyway, I thought I would announce that I have passed me boards and start on Monday as an ICU nurse!

72. Take Melissa to a show

Last weekend I took a green horse of mine to a show along with a bunch of students, Melissa being one of them. Melissa has been a student of mine for going on 4 years now, she is a great super happy enthusiastic kid, who has always wanted to go to a horse show and it just never quite worked out for her...until now. Melissa got her own horse last fall, and her neighbor and best friend is another student of mine who offered to haul her horse to the show for her. So as it worked out, Melissa got to her first show, and even placed 4th at it :)

98. Watch the Indiana Jones Movies

Well, with the new Indy movie in theaters, Nate convinced me that I needed to watch all of them before a set date when he would take me to see the new one in theaters...and I did it! Thats one more thing off the list! :)

7. Get a job in the ICU....DONE!

Okay, so the morning after my interview for a critical care position at MaineGeneral Hospital, I got a call offering my the job!! Yay! Its a full time night position (I would have preferred days, but its a job in the unit I wanted :) They are even going to hold the job for me until I pass my NCLEX, which will probably be in June :)

Yes, one more thing crossed off my list!

7. Get a job in the ICU

Now...this goal of mine has a two fold reason behind it. The first is that I really like critical care nursing--it just suits me and my style for care. The other reason is that I need at least 1 year in Critical care before I can apply to grad school. Now, this has lead me to be a little...driven to get a job in the ICU. I've had a few other interviews by hospitals, but most say that they don't like to hire new grads into the ICU, they want you to have experience first. Now thats said, I had an interview today...a very positive interview...for the Critical Care Unit at Maine General...so Yay! :)

79. Become a good DI Challenge Master

I know...once again its been a while (bad me...), but I thought at least this I could update on. With the craziness of my life, I did my first DI regional celebration as the role of Challenge Master, and everything went wonderfully. I was absolutely terrified the eventing before, thinking I as sure I did not know my problem well enough, or forgot one of my long list of duties, but the day came and went with nothing but compliments. I really did learn a lot, and I can't wait until next year when I get to do it all over again!

18. Learn 5 new Vegetarian dishes

I've actually been slowly picking away at this one--trying to cook more instead of heating up frozen dinners and eating out so much. Partly due to lifestyle, a most stable situation with my significant other, and partly a way to help save some money. Anyway, I cook a lot more these days. Currently I am waiting for a new recipe--a veggie Mexican casserole that sounded interesting and we will see if my make-sift, veggie version of the original version will come out. Yesterday I made manacotti for dinner, which I don't really count as new because its basically a version of stuffed shells, which has been a classic dish for me for a while now-thankfully the boyfriend likes cheesy pasta dishes and will eat tofu! :)

14. Call 5 friends I don�t talk to regularly

Wow its been a while!! No, I have not forgotten my list, I've just been busy! I have been able to get one thing done though, I finally called Caitlin. Caitlin is a horsey friend of mine, who spends half the year in Maine and half in Florida due to her job. This year though, she quit her job and is now permanently in Maine, and months later I finally decided I needed to talk to her! Before this job, when she spent all her time in Maine, we had gotten pretty close, but with the strain of life and her travel with work we would go months with out talking.

Anyway, my call lead to a long phone conversation, which led to a 4 hour dinner to catch up :) Yay for old friends :)

60. Finally finish reading Wicked & 45. Read The Mist-Filled Path

Late last week, after well...some frustration with the boyfriend which ended with spending most of the day appart, I found myself with some extra time, which I put into finishing Wicked. I though the book started slow, the the middle of the book got me. I loved the twist in the plot, and how deeply complicated the main character seemed. Now that its done though, I have only mediocre feelings about it. The end felt to me like it trailed off, yes, leaving you where The Wizard of Oz picked up, but it did not to me keep up with how good the middle was. Yes, I liked the book well enough, and I'm glad that I read it...but I don't think I would necessarily recommend it.

Now that its over though, I have dove into my next book, The Mist Filled Path. This book made it to my list because my spiritual path seems to have...clouded over. Being pushed aside due to school and work obligations, I wanted to read something that would inspire me. Having great reviews on Amazon.com, Here's hoping!!

Also...deciding to be pro-active on my goals, I ordered Getting Things Done (another goal of mine) and to meet my goal of reading other books to help renew my spirituality, Clan of the Goddess.

87. Re-Upholster Grandmothers chair

There is this chair...it was origionally my great grandmothers, then was sold in an estate auction, and eventually bought back by my mother. She re-upholstered it at this time--about thirty years ago long before I was born, but for the past 10 or so its been sitting in the attic. My mom said I could have it if it wanted, so my first task was to fix it back up--aka upholster it myself...well, okay, so my myself Nate was my accomplice and my mom was there for anything I got to and realized I had no idea what to do. So it made for a rough day, and a VERY grumpy boyfriend, but for the most part its done!! Everyone, including my mum and dad, thought it looked great. All thats left now is to put the trim on to cover the staples and tacks and its finished :) YAY! Picture once its all done!

92. Get a Make a Wish necklace

Okay, so its been a while. After the holiday rush, there was a death in the family, a wedding for Nate's best friend, and I have been working almost every day. I guess thats why I have yet to be on here to explain anymore of my goals!! Anyway, Christmas Eve I had yet another one met. I had been eying the Key to Success make a wish necklace, but also found myself loving the pearl necklaces from Dogeared as well--anyway, Nathan, in his ultimate wisdom (and my telling him I wanted a make a wish necklace...) got me exactly what I wanted. Its a Pearl of Success, on a thread, so it will wear away just like the key to success will. I love it, and it has yet to leave me neck since I put it on. I get tons of compliments on it too. Its very simple, but very pretty. :)

p.s. about 50 pages away from finishing Wicked....Getting Things Done, and the Mist Filled Path are currently in the mail to me :) Along with one other pagan related book. Oh yay!
